billionrent.com — B2C luxury car rental marketplace across Europe

billionrent.com is a B2C marketplace for premium and luxury car rental: 200+ vehicles from partner fleets in 25+ European countries and the UAE, instant booking, door-to-door delivery, one-way rentals and a chauffeur option. Payment by card, PayPal or crypto.

Unlike a single-company rental site, the marketplace aggregates external fleets: partner inventory, availability and pricing arrive through API integrations, and a booking on billionrent.com becomes an order in the partner’s own system. That integration layer — Node.js, GraphQL, PostgreSQL plus FaunaDB for partner-side data — was the core of the work.

Two products grew out of it for the partners themselves: responsive embeddable booking widgets any rental company can drop into its site, and a “website in one click” module that auto-generates a landing page with the partner’s fleet and live booking. Frontend on Next.js and React, served behind Nginx.

Role: Team Lead at Laflei ltd (Rome), 2020–2025 — the same team and infrastructure as toprentapp.com, so the marketplace and the fleet-management SaaS share one booking core.
